COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
  • LEAD 162 - Chief Justice
    • (LEAD 162-3) Special Topic: Citizenship – Chief Justice. Chief Justice is an educational forum/course designed to give the student a participatory appreciation of the United States Constitution and of America’s democratic form of government. The forum contains critical questions that incorporate some of today’s most relevant moral and ethical issues. By using persuasive arguments and clear logic, each student must educate a jury of their peers on the merits of each case and attempt to succeed on enough issues to climb the steps of the Supreme Court to become the Chief Justice.
    • (LEAD 162-4) Special Topic: Citizenship – Chief Justice.This is the same as the above Chief Justice course with an additional integral fifteen-hour subject oriented community service-learning requirement.
  • LEAD 162 - Sovereign Citizen
    • (LEAD 162-3) Special Topic: Citizenship – Sovereign Citizen. This course provides a unique avenue for students to explore information on the sovereignty of the individual American citizen and their sense of self-empowerment. Students will be asked to research constitutional and contemporary issues, investigate their own consciences about those issues, give voice via interactive discussions to their concerns, organize themselves into position teams, and finally work within communities to affect the education of sovereign citizens on the potential of change for the common good. This course has integral to it a fifteen-hour subject oriented community service-learning requirement.
    • (LEAD 162-4) Special Topic: Citizenship – Sovereign Citizen. This is the same as the above Sovereign Citizen course with an additional integral fifteen-hour subject oriented community service-learning requirement.
  • LEAD 162 - Head of State
    • (LEAD 162-3) Special Topic: Citizenship – Head of State. This course enables students the opportunity to role-play the position of the President of the United States and to consider the magnitude of responsibilities inherent in managing the domestic and foreign affairs of an economic, military and geopolitical world power. Students participating in this educational forum/course will engage in designing policy formation relative to current events, and then effectively communicate those policies to a constituency of their peers. This course has integral to it a fifteen-hour subject oriented community service-learning requirement.
    • (LEAD 162-4) Special Topic: Citizenship – Head of State. This is the same as the above Head of State course with an additional integral fifteen-hour subject oriented community service-learning requirement.
